My Tattoo

These are a couple of photos Dave took of my tattoo.

It is a small Dolphin on my right shoulder blade.
I had it done in 2000 at Skin Graphics Tattoo Studio in Gisbourne, New Zealand while my boyfriend at the time was in a hairdressing salon getting dreadlocks. He had really long hair and the dreads were going to take up to 8 hours so I wandered around town and ended up with a tattoo.

I was always changing my body back then, I constantly dyed my hair, all sorts of colours and had multiple piercings. Mum and Dad especially were against tattoos and no one in my family had any except my Grandad.
I said I would take out all my piercings if Mum let me get a tattoo, but by the time I got it I was old enough to make my own decisions and was quite far from home so they really had no say.

It was not as sore as I expected, only a slight burning feeling which didn't last long. After living in Tropical North Queensland and spending a lot of time in the sun my tattoo faded quite a bit I so decided to get it
recoloured. I was at my hairdressers chatting to her another hairdresser showed me a new tattoo she had done at a new shop in town. She said the tattoo girl was really lovely and made her feel at ease.
So I popped down, made an appointment and looked on the internet at different dolphins, colours and shading.
It took around 20 minutes and she did a wonderful job, it is now more shaded and a lot brighter and will hopefully stay that way for a long time.

I have now designed another tattoo I will get soon. This one is of a Lotus flower which is said to represent 'new beginnings', I want it on my lower back.
